The Spectrum of Vision

Do we always see what our eyes are looking at? You have heard the expression "It is right under your nose!"  When all is considered, we probably miss the visual of most of what is before us. That is because we are thinking of "other things".  Therefore, when something is important, we concentrate. This is where the genealogist excels. Remembering dates, places, names is very convenient when attempting to work out genealogy brain teasers.  Funny, but I can remember an ancestors death date quicker than a friend's name!  We all have the personal servants of calculators, computers and the like to do the thinking.  Except, there is no genealogy gadget to instantly recall names of ancestors and dates. Even if one were invented, would it wake us in the middle of the night like our brain does to remember an important detail?
