Somewhere there is a Dream ....

Somewhere, in the deep portals of our minds, lies a dream. It is the dream of that which we have not yet achieved. One more hope. One more try. It is out there somewhere. I know it is. The spirit of Americans is to achieve goals and move closer and closer to that which is not quite within our grasp. You see this spirit in the avid researching genealogist. Just look for your grandparents in one more place. Find the elusive marriage. Where was the family in 1810? Before 1850 (using census records), research gets more tedious and insightful. The basic steps were the census records. Now for discovering other resources, the probing of county records. No matter where you are in your research, the county records require researching. Those records fill in the gaps for questions you found in the census records, and take you back in time to that  land of dreams. The Family Seat. Where the family originated from. Want to get a lot of information fast? Read the old wills where the lives of your ancestors unfold before you.  They were part of history, you know. There are simply so many exciting things to learn about them. It is your dream. You must take the next step: researching old county wills.  Virginia was founded in 1607 as a colony and many of the old records are yet in tact. The stories in the history books is also your history. Discover the roles your ancestors played in making America great.
