Pittsylvania County Probate Records



Pittsylvania County was formed in 1767 from Halifax County, Virginia. It was named after William Pitt, the first Earl of Chatham, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1755 to 1768. In 1777 the western part of Pittsylvania County was divided and became Henry County.
